In this issue: Black Maternal Health Week Virtual Events schedule and information.
Black Maternal Health Week is here! Celebrate April with us April 11-17
Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) was launched by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance in order to create awareness of and foster action to address the injustice of Black Maternal Mortality in our nation.
The LA County AAIMM Initiative is celebrating BMHW virtually through several social-distancing friendly online events. The South LA/South Bay AAIMM Community Action Team and partners across the LA County AAIMM network of change-makers have planned a full week of activities. We acknowledge our work has even deeper importance during this pandemic. This will be a time of celebrating and supporting joyous and healthy births, while calling on all to become a village of support for pregnant woman and families.
A listing of events can be found on our website at www.blackinfantsandfamilies.org/bmhw as well as on Facebook and Instagram(@blackinfantsandfamiliesla) and Twitter (@BIF_LA).
If your organization has a virtual event planned, we'd like to know: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AAIMM_BMHW.

Black Infants and Families Los Angeles is the landing place for the work of the Los Angles County African American Infant and Maternal Mortality Initiative. We are a coalition of the LA County Health Agency (Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, and Department of Health Services), First 5 LA, community organizations, mental and health care providers, funders, and community members. We are united in one purpose: to address the unacceptably high rates of Black infant and maternal deaths in Los Angeles County.
