Merrisa A. Stern, AAIMM Doula Mentee

“A doula is a confidant, a safe space holder, a nurturer to the mother/birthing person, and an empathic educator.”

Former teen mama, now a boy mom of two.

What does being a Doula mean to you?

A doula is a confidant, a safe space holder, a nurturer to the mother/birthing person, and an empathic educator.

One reason a family should consider having a doula:

One reason to consider a doula is the support and validation. You may feel alone and isolated from time to time, but those check-ins provide little shimmers of joy and love we can receive and hold on to.

Please share a story of one of your most memorable experiences as a doula.

Witnessing my first water birth, I still get goosebumps retelling the story of seeing baby come earth-side.
