We love to welcome new babies into the world, but we don’t want to welcome them too soon.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth—a crisis fueled by the health equity gap in our health care system that puts women and babies of color at the greatest risk.
In the U.S., 1 in 10 babies is born preterm each year. Two babies die every hour, and about every 12 hours a woman dies from pregnancy-related causes. Prematurity affects too many moms and babies and is significantly fueled by the health equity gap in our health care system today.
Join March of Dimes in the fight for full-term pregnancies and ending preventable preterm birth, so all babies and families can have the best possible start. Together we can end preventable preterm birth.
